It takes a “team” of spider-men to take down the Kingpin and his goon squad in the new animated film “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse”

Miles Morales, an inner-city kid that attends an advance placement high school and loves to defy his father (a police man) by tagging his graffiti all over town. Miles was doing just that when he found himself in the middle of a battle between Spider-Man and Kingpin and his henchmen: the Green Goblin, Scorpion and Dr.Ock!

Kingpin was trying to open a portal to a parallel universe but instead Spider-Man was able to prevent it before being grabbed by the monstrous Wilson Fisk and crushed. An injured Peter Parker/Spiderman was able to pass a device that will destroy Kingpins portal for good and Miles needs to finish it for him. The world is shocked by the news, Spider-Man/Peter Parker is dead.

Miles relives the Spider-Man origin story after he is bitten by the same spider that previously got Peter Parker giving the Spider-man abilities to him. But Miles is the new Spider-Man but not the only Spider-Man!

When Fisk opened the portal 4 different Spider-Men from different parallel universes were brought through. Miles gets to team up with Peter B. Parker aka Spider-Man, Gwen Stacy aka Spider-Gwen, Spider-Man Noir (Nic Cage) and Peter Porker aka Spider-Pig!  A very “Rambo” style and fully loaded Aunt May (Lily Tomlin) gets Miles a costume and equips the team before they set of to take down Fisk.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is a wonderful animated film for the ENTIRE family! The animation is breathtaking, and the directors bring in the dialogue boxes to the film so it looks like a comic book coming to life on the big screen! I also liked the different takes on the hero in the different universes. There is a touching moment in the film when Miles has a talk with a store owner, the late Stan Lee’s animated cameo when he explains heroism to the boy. EXCELSIOR!
